Telemedicine Telemedicine: A Mechanism for Change For people living in the world’s poorest nations, low life expectancy is a consequence of limited access to professional healthcare and health information due to poverty. Information Communications and Technologies (ICT) are a critical link in reducing the human cost of poverty because they can eliminate distance and location as barriers to providing and receiving quality care. Telemedicine provides a mechanism for change. It offers tools, resources and other opportunities for capacity building and sustainability in healthcare, education, and ongoing community development. Adopt A Village’s Telemedicine program will improve healthcare in developing countries by forming a network of local care providers, medical educators, and specialists from around the world who exchange vital diagnostic knowledge, treatment plans, and care maintenance and prevention strategies through a system of collecting, sharing and storing information.
